General Property Description
"The Commons" is a premier mixed-use development designed by Fisher Friedman Associates, AIA. It was built by the Perini Corporation between 1980 and 1984 on three city blocks surrounding Sydney Walton Park. Phase I contains 50 homes, Phase II contains 52 homes and Phase III contains 53 homes.
The architects design was impacted by two issues when the project was designed. The Embarcadero elevated freeway (demolished in the '90's) and the city's building height restrictions (40 foot) called for a focus on the interior walkways and gardens. The complex has won many awards for its architectual design.
Privacy and ease of living are a priority in the complex's design. Golden Gateway Commons has nine different floor plans from 1 bedroom (approximately 950 square feet) to three bedrooms (approximately 2,400 square feet). Each block has an equal mix of one, two and three bedroom plans. Every home has one deeded parking space and a fireplace.
Location
"The Commons" is located in the San Francisco Financial District adjacent to the Golden Gateway Swim and Tennis Club and near the Embarcadero promenade that runs along the San Francisco Bay offering breathtaking views of the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island and Alcatraz. It is within walking distance to major transportation including BART, MUNI, plus Golden Gate buses and ferries. World-class restaurants, shopping and cultural amenities are minutes away. You can walk or take the trolley to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, Union Square and the historic Ferry Building.
